Non-Friable
Non-Friable materials are very hard and usually contain less concentrations of asbestos. When it comes to non-friable asbestos materials such as floor tile, we make sure to follow all EPA and OSHA containment regulations which usually consists of multiple layers of plastic on any window or door to ensure no fiber release is possible. We then use hot and cold methods with water in order to bring the material up in whole pieces, this ensures the asbestos fibers never have a chance to become airborne.
Friable
Friable asbestos materials typically contain much higher amounts of asbestos compared to non-friable materials and they have a much greater chance of becoming airborne. Friable asbestos materials such as pipe insulation and ceiling texture can be damaged and become airborne much easier than any non-friable material, thus we treat it with extensive caution. We are known for our ability to build complex-airtight containments in any location with constant negative pressure to ensure any fiber released is properly filtered into our air scrubbers and disposed of with the rest of the contaminated material. We also include an asbestos air clearance test following the removal of any friable material to ensure the area is safe for reoccupation.
We rely on our years of experience with locating and identifying asbestos containing materials located in various schools, businesses, and homes across Western North Carolina. Our Asbestos inspectors will only outsource our samples to the most reputable laboratories to insure we have the most accurate lab analysis available. We are also proud in our inspector's ability to easily interpret our findings and create a detailed report that's easy for anyone to understand.
Asbestos is responsible for various ailments such as Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, and lung cancer, that's why the EPA and OSHA have regulated the removal of any asbestos containing material. Asbestos can be found in over 3,000 different materials from building materials to gaskets, so having an asbestos inspection before any renovation or demolition project is a good idea to insure everyone is safe and there is no risk of exposure.
